Over the past few years, the prices of gas and diesel have experienced some drastic changes. Not too many years ago, the price of gas was around a dollar or a little more, but nothing like it is today. Back then, gas wasn't high in price, but the demand for vehicles wasn't what it is today either.
The demand for vehicles grew, and so did the demand for fuel. Also, some actions and events have played into the equation as well. This resulting in the rising costs of fuel. Fuel is something we all need to run our vehicles. I think we all can agree, we wouldn't be able to go anywhere without it.
A majority of the gas we get at local gas stations comes from overseas and primarily the Middle East. Because of this we have to pay taxes on the gas we use. This pays for the gas as well as the shipping of the gas. If we got our gas from within the United States, one can't help but wonder whether or not the prices would indeed be lower.
Now with the basic marketing theory of supply and demand,You would have to believe that domestic and offshore drilling would immediately bring down the superficial fuel prices.
Even though the experts say it will take ten years to get up to full production in the United States we are currently paying prices for oil that is still in the ground. These current prices are what speculators have determined is the value due to future demand and future supplies.
Environmentalist have also controlled when and where we can drill. Claiming that drilling would be harmful to wildlife and echo systems. Meanwhile Cuba has given permission to China to drill just one mile south of the Florida keys tapping into resources in the same echo systems that environmentalist are preventing us from using.
Not only are they not helping the environment since they can't oversee the Chinese, but they are costing the US economy billions of dollars and tearing into our pocket books.
Meanwhile advanced fuel alternatives have been around for decades!!!
We have the ability to run cleaner more and fuel efficient. The best example is Hydrogen. Yes water. No you can't put water in your fuel tank but a cheap and easy conversion could turn your gas guzzler engine into a gas sipper and run cleaner than any Hybrid.
There are many options out there but this is my favorite and the one I use on my cars.

So what is all this crap about developing alternative fuels?!!
Between the oil industry and motor industry these patents have been bought up or the inventors have been muscled and even killed.
